Brussels is to be enjoyed by tram, on foot, by bike, ... while meeting other people. This calls for public transport and spatial planning that strike a balance between meeting others and just passing by.

Well-designed public spaces contribute to a more livable city. Squares and parks should oxygenate Brussels.
The city is a laboratory, a breeding ground for the future. Brussels needs to foster creativity and experimentation, providing spaces to play, practise sports and learn new skills.
My vision on Mobility
Mobility determines the quality of life of city residents and the chances for sustainable development of the city and its periphery. Our Brussels should boldly take away space from King Car and return it to pedestrians and cyclists, to buses and trams in their own dedicated track sections. This implies redesigning public space for swifter public transport, less cars and more space for cyclists and pedestrians.
As the Brussels’ Minister for Mobility, I intend to install more pedestrian zones. I want much more cycle paths. Our Region should be fully accessible by bike, for a 100 %. On the entire inner ring, I will construct a separate cycle path. I want more parking space for bikes, as well as flat tracks, cycling and walking paths along the railway tracks. Public transport frequencies should be increased, including in the evening and during the weekends. I want separate bus lanes and tramway tracks, and direct connections between P&R-sites and the city centre. There will still be a place for cars, but to a lesser extend: redistribution is essential. I want to discourage car ownership by improving taxi services and by giving taxi drivers general access to bus and tramway lanes. P&R-sites keep cars out of the city and allow drivers to switch from car to public transport within minutes. The ongoing construction of the Regional Express Net (train network between city and periphery) needs be accelerated. You will enter the city via green city boulevards. Spacious squares will allow passers-by to meet local residents. Architectural landmarks interconnect city gates and districts. For me, mobility should guarantee the quality of life in all districts.
